Pencils down? No, we say! Pencils UP! It’s time to write some sketch comedy!

Learn the basics of writing sketch comedy through a variety of in-class exercises, solo writing assignments, and collaborative group work. This course is our introduction to the basics of comedy writing. Students build skills their skills in creating characters, generating ideas for scenes, and honing those ideas so that they have a clear comedic game.

The course will be held at Fallout Theater, located at 616 Lavaca St in downtown Austin, and will consist of 8 weekly classes from 6:30pm-8:30pm. Students who complete Sketch 101 are eligible to enroll in Sketch 201.


  • Tuition is $250 and is due by the first day of class.

BRE BIETZ is a scriptwriter, improviser, host, director, and comedy producer. She’s best known for her original production Terminator: The Musical and currently runs a sketch comedy channel on YouTube called Keep It Together. After ten years as a creative comedy free agent, she’ll tell you that nothing is as rad as finding yourself in an inclusive comedy sandbox such as Fallout Theater… laughing with the new pals that you’d never imagine you’d meet and putting on shows you’d never imagine you’d see.
